Senior Instrumentation Engineer - Energy Projects

About the Role

Our client is seeking a seasoned Senior Instrumentation Engineer to enhance their energy project delivery capabilities. This hybrid role offers a blend of remote flexibility and in-office collaboration in Durban . You will be responsible for the specification, design, and implementation of sophisticated instrumentation and control systems for diverse energy infrastructure, including power generation and distribution facilities. The ideal candidate possesses a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of process control, and a commitment to ensuring the safety, efficiency, and reliability of critical energy assets through advanced technological solutions.

• Specify, design, and select instrumentation and control systems for various energy projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client requirements.
• Develop P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), instrument lists, data sheets, and loop diagrams.
• Collaborate with project teams, including electrical, mechanical, and process engineers, to integrate instrumentation solutions seamlessly.
• Oversee the procurement, installation, calibration, and testing of instrumentation and control hardware and software.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex instrumentation and control issues during project execution and plant operations.
• Contribute to HAZOP studies and ensure that instrumentation designs meet all safety and regulatory requirements.

• Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering.
• Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in instrumentation and control engineering, preferably within the energy sector .
• Strong knowledge of process control principles, PLCs, DCS, and SCADA systems.
• Experience with various types of instrumentation (e.g., pressure, temperature, flow, level sensors) and their applications.
• Familiarity with international standards such as ISA, IEC, and API.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team in a hybrid work model, demonstrating strong communication skills.
