Senior Electrical Engineer - Grid Integration

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer with specialized expertise in grid integration to join their team in Durban. This critical role will focus on ensuring the stable and efficient integration of renewable energy sources into the national grid infrastructure. You will be involved in the technical assessment, planning, and execution of projects that connect diverse energy generation facilities to the power network.

The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of power system dynamics, grid codes, and regulatory compliance, coupled with a passion for advancing sustainable energy solutions within Kwa Zulu-Natal.

• Lead the technical analysis and design for interconnecting renewable energy projects with the national electricity grid.
• Develop and review grid interconnection studies, including power flow, short circuit, and stability analyses.
• Ensure compliance with national and international grid codes, standards, and regulations.
• Collaborate with utility companies, project developers, and regulatory bodies on interconnection agreements and requirements.
• Provide expert technical input on grid stability, protection schemes, and power quality related to renewable energy integration.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering practices.

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems.
• Over 10 years of experience in electrical engineering, with at least 5 years focused on grid integration of power generation, preferably renewables.
• In-depth knowledge of power system modeling software (e.g., PSS/E, Power Factory).
• Demonstrated experience with national and international grid codes and interconnection standards.
• Strong understanding of power system protection, control systems, and power electronics.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
