Senior Process Engineer - Chemical

Our client is seeking a seasoned Senior Process Engineer specializing in chemical processes to join their established industrial operations in Durban. This role involves optimizing and troubleshooting complex chemical manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, safety, and product quality. You will be instrumental in driving continuous improvement initiatives, implementing new technologies, and ensuring compliance with environmental and safety standards. The successful candidate will bring extensive experience in chemical engineering principles and a proactive approach to problem-solving within a large-scale production environment.

• Design, develop, and optimize chemical processes for efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
• Conduct process simulations, hazard analyses (HAZOP), and risk assessments.
• Troubleshoot operational issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
• Oversee the implementation of process improvements and new technology installations.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Prepare technical reports, P&, and operational manuals.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to plant operations teams in Durban.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in process engineering within the chemical or petrochemical industry.
• Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and P&t.
• Strong knowledge of unit operations, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics.
• Experience with process safety management (PSM) principles and MOC procedures.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
