Telecommunications Solutions Architect

Our client, a prominent player in the South African telecommunications sector, is looking for an innovative and experienced Telecommunications Solutions Architect to join their Durban-based team. This is a hybrid role, requiring a blend of on-site collaboration and remote flexibility. You will be responsible for conceptualizing and developing comprehensive technical solutions that address complex business challenges for our clients. This role demands a deep understanding of current and emerging telecom technologies, coupled with the ability to translate business requirements into scalable, resilient, and cost-effective network designs.

You will work closely with sales, engineering, and product development teams to ensure alignment and successful project delivery. This is an exciting opportunity to influence the strategic direction of telecom solutions.

• Translate business and technical requirements into detailed network and system architectures.
• Design end-to-end telecommunications solutions, encompassing mobile, fixed-line, and converged services.
• Evaluate and recommend new technologies, platforms, and vendor solutions to enhance service offerings.
• Develop proof-of-concept designs and conduct feasibility studies for proposed solutions.
• Collaborate with pre-sales teams to develop technical proposals and presentations for clients.
• Provide expert technical guidance and support throughout the project lifecycle, from design to deployment.
• Mentor and guide junior architects and engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence.
• Ensure solutions comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.

• A Master's degree or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related field.
• Over 7 years of progressive experience in telecommunications, with at least 3 years in a solutions architecture role.
• In-depth knowledge of IP networking, MPLS, SDN, NFV, 5G technologies, and cloud infrastructure.
• Experience with service provider network design and architecture.
• Strong understanding of business processes and ability to align technology solutions with business goals.
• Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Vendor certifications from major telecom equipment providers are advantageous.
