Lead Sports Event Coordinator

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly organized and energetic Lead Sports Event Coordinator to manage and execute a portfolio of exciting sporting events in and around Durban. This role is critical for ensuring the seamless planning, delivery, and successful conclusion of events that engage communities and promote sports participation. You will work closely with various stakeholders, including sponsors, venues, and sporting bodies, to bring events to life.

• Plan, coordinate, and execute all aspects of sports events, from initial concept to post-event analysis.
• Manage event budgets, vendor negotiations, and resource allocation to ensure cost-effectiveness.
• Develop event timelines and ensure all deadlines are met for successful execution.
• Liaise with participants, officials, volunteers, and emergency services to ensure smooth event operations.
• Develop and implement comprehensive event marketing and promotional strategies.
• Oversee on-site event management, including setup, execution, and breakdown.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in event planning and management, with a strong focus on sports events.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects with tight deadlines and multiple stakeholders.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in event management software and tools.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and crisis management.
• Relevant degree or diploma in Event Management, Sports Management, or Marketing.
