L1 Network Engineer

LAN, WLAN and IPT Field Services Engineer, L1

• Implement, and maintain network infrastructure
• Determine network bandwidth needs and recommend measures to meet those requirements
• Install appropriate data communications components configured to meet the company’s needs
• Configure switches, routers and other network hardware
• Follow, document, and enforce system standards
• Maintain knowledge of various network technologies including LANs, WANs, WLANs, SANs, and VoIP networks
• Network Routing Basics: RIP, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP and VRF
• Network Switching: VLAN, VLAN trunking, STP, PVSTP, SPAN, VTP, port channel
• IP Services Basics: HSRP, VRRP, NAT, NTP, SNMP, DHCP, WCCP, IP SLA, NETFLOW
• Switch Port mgmt.
• Network Access Control Management
• Wlan management and maintenance
• Configuration backup and restoration
• Network Security Basics: ACL, TACACS, AAA, Port Security, DHCP Snooping, VPN Technologies, SSL VPN, DMVPN, and Cisco ISE
• Network Optimization Basics:
  Cisco QOS and F5 Load balancers
• Core Network Devices:
  Cisco Catalyst 6500 series, VSS, Cisco 3750, Cisco ACS, Cisco ASA 5585-X, Cisco ASR Router. Nexus switching and routing platform.
• Experience working on One Cloud System User Interface, such as provisioning the following:
  • User Password changes – FAC Codes / PIN's
  • Adding of Phones and Analogue Gateway Changes
  • User Deletion and Creation
  • Basic Fault Finding
  • Shared Lines
  • First line Sasol Place switchboard troubleshooting Cisco Unified Attendant Console
• Increase job knowledge through continuing education and professional development opportunities, attend conferences, and read professional industry publications
• Open to being on call outside of regular working hours as well as occasional nights and weekends in the office
• Confident communication in English and Afrikaans
• Work well independently and in team settings
• Experience of ITSM software applications and tools, analysis, and reporting.
• 2-5 years of related and progressive experience combining IT delivery, solutions implementation.
