About the Role
Our client is seeking a talented and experienced Lead Cybersecurity Engineer to drive technical security initiatives in Durban . In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing advanced security solutions to protect the organization's infrastructure and data. You will lead a team of engineers, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate security best practices into all aspects of IT operations.
This is a pivotal role for a hands-on technical leader passionate about cybersecurity and eager to tackle complex challenges.
- Lead the design, development, and deployment of robust cybersecurity systems and controls.
- Architect and implement solutions for network security, endpoint protection, and data loss prevention.
- Oversee the management of security tools, including SIEM, firewalls, IDS/IPS, and vulnerability scanners.
- Conduct technical security assessments, penetration testing, and security code reviews.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior cybersecurity engineers.
- Stay abreast of emerging threats and technologies, recommending and implementing proactive defenses.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related technical field.
- 7+ years of hands-on experience in cybersecurity engineering and architecture.
- Deep understanding of networking protocols, operating systems, and cloud security principles (AWS/Azure/GCP).
- Expertise in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation of security tasks.
- Proven experience with security architecture reviews and threat modeling.
- Relevant certifications like OSCP, CISSP, or CCSP are strongly preferred.
