Data Scientist - NLP Specialist

Our client is seeking a talented Data Scientist with a specialization in Natural Language Processing (NLP) to join their growing analytics team in Durban . You will be responsible for developing and implementing advanced NLP models to extract insights from textual data, improve customer interactions, and drive business intelligence. This role requires a deep understanding of linguistic structures, machine learning techniques, and practical application in a business context.

You will work closely with product teams to embed NLP capabilities into various applications and services, contributing to data-driven decision-making.

• Develop and deploy NLP models for tasks such as sentiment analysis, text classification, named entity recognition, and topic modeling.
• Process and analyze large volumes of unstructured text data from various sources.
• Collaborate with software engineers to integrate NLP models into existing products and platforms.
• Design and conduct experiments to evaluate model performance and identify areas for improvement.
• Research and implement state-of-the-arte NLP techniques and libraries.
• Communicate complex findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Linguistics, Data Science, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in data science with a strong focus on NLP.
• Proficiency in Python and NLP libraries (e.g., NLTK, Spa Cy, Hugging Face Transformers).
• Experience with machine learning frameworks (Tensor Flow, PyTorch) and their application to NLP.
• Solid understanding of statistical methods and machine learning principles.
