About the Role

Our client, a leading personal care marketing and manufacturing organisation, is seeking a strategic Purchasing Manager to oversee the procurement of raw materials and fragrances. This role is pivotal in ensuring supply security, cost competitiveness, and quality compliance to support a portfolio of well-known household brands and high-volume manufacturing schedules.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute sourcing strategies for raw materials and fragrances aligned with cost targets and supply risk mitigation.
• Identify, evaluate, and onboard local and international suppliers, including fragrance houses and chemical manufacturers.
• Drive cost-saving initiatives, contract negotiations, and long-term supply agreements to support business growth.
• Oversee the end-to-end purchase cycle, including requisitioning, PO management, delivery tracking, and invoice resolution.
• Manage supplier performance through rigorous evaluations of quality, service, lead times, and compliance.
• Partner with R&D during new product development (NPD) to source materials that meet regulatory, cost, and quality requirements.
• Collaborate with Production Planning to maintain optimal stock levels and safety stocks while managing working capital.
• Resolve supplier-related issues proactively to ensure continuity of supply for manufacturing.
• Manage and report on stock levels, pricing, and inventory health metrics.

Requirements

• Bachelors degree in Supply Chain, Procurement, Commerce, or a related field (Mandatory).
• Minimum of 5+ years of managerial experience in Procurement, specifically within the FMCG, cosmetics, personal care, or chemical industries.
• Proven experience in managing raw materials, chemical components, or fragrance procurement.
• Strong negotiation skills and experience managing complex supplier relationships.
• Proficiency in ERP systems (experience with Syspro is highly advantageous).
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, and data analytics).
• Strong commercial acumen and a technical understanding of personal care formulations.
• Ability to lead teams and engage effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.
