About the Role
Our client, a leading name in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector, is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee their distribution center operations in Durban. This critical role focuses on optimizing warehouse efficiency, managing inventory, and ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of products to our diverse customer base across Kwa Zulu-Natal. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in logistics and supply chain management, with a proven ability to drive operational excellence and cost-effectiveness.
You will play a key role in maintaining the integrity of our supply chain and supporting the company's growth objectives in this vital region.
- Manage day-to-day operations of the FMCG distribution center, including receiving, warehousing, and dispatch.
- Develop and implement operational strategies to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service levels.
- Oversee inventory management, ensuring accuracy and minimizing stock discrepancies.
- Lead and motivate the operations team, fostering a culture of safety, productivity, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Collaborate with procurement, sales, and transportation teams to optimize the supply chain flow.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in operations management within the FMCG or related distribution environment.
- Proven experience in warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory control.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to drive performance.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
- Knowledge of logistics, transportation, and supply chain best practices.
