Electronic Manufacturing Industry
My client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Process Technician to join their electronics manufacturing facility based in Pinetown. This role focuses on driving process optimisation, automation, and continuous improvement within a high-volume SMT production environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for improving manufacturing efficiency, ensuring product quality, and leading process engineering initiatives across SMT, assembly, and test environments. The role also includes NPI support, defect analysis, and technical leadership within production.
📌 Key Responsibilities
- SMT, reflow, wave soldering & process optimisation
- Thermal profiling, defect analysis & PFMEA
- Line balancing and throughput improvement
- Equipment validation, automation & maintenance support
- Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma & continuous improvement projects
- IPC, ISO & customer quality compliance
- New Product Introduction (NPI) & pilot build management
- SOP development, training & technical support
- X-ray, AOI programming & defect reduction
- Support factory maintenance & equipment uptime
- Lead and mentor process & maintenance technicians
- BSc / BEng (Electronics / Industrial / Mechanical Engineering or equivalent)
- 5–7 years’ experience in electronics manufacturing (EMS)
- Strong SMT, soldering & electronics assembly knowledge
- Experience with AOI, X-ray inspection & defect analysis
- Lean Six Sigma, PFMEA, 5S & RCA experience
- ERP/MES exposure advantageous
- Strong leadership, analytical & problem-solving skills
