We are seeking a skilled, attention to detail and motivated tool maker to join our client’s dynamic and skilled team in Durban.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manufacture, repair, maintain, and modify tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and related production equipment.
  • Interpret and work from technical drawings, engineering specifications, and manufacturing instructions.
  • Operate and maintain conventional machining equipment, including lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drilling machines.
  • Operate CNC machinery and programming software where applicable.
  • Utilise Autodesk Fusion 360 or similar CAD/CAM software for tooling design and modifications.
  • Conduct inspections and measurements to ensure tooling meets quality standards and specified tolerances.
  • Troubleshoot tooling and production issues to minimise downtime and improve operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to optimise tooling performance and manufacturing processes.
  • Maintain accurate records of tooling maintenance, repairs, and modifications.

Adhere to all company health, safety, quality, and housekeeping standards.

Qualifications &

Experience:
  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • Qualified Tool Maker, Fitter & Turner, or equivalent recognised trade qualification.
  • Minimum 3–5 years' experience in a tool making, machining, or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in the manufacture, repair, and maintenance of tooling, jigs, fixtures, and machine components.
  • Experience operating conventional machining equipment is essential.
  • CNC machining experience will be advantageous.
  • Experience using Autodesk Fusion 360 or similar CAD/CAM software.
  • Experience with in engineering plastics, rubber, polyurethane, or general manufacturing industries will be beneficial.
  • Strong machining and fabrication skills.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Competent in the use of precision measuring instruments and quality inspection techniques.
  • Sound understanding of manufacturing processes and tooling applications.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
