About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and proactive Mechanical Maintenance Technician for their manufacturing plant in Durban. This role is essential for ensuring the optimal performance and longevity of all machinery and equipment. You will be responsible for performing routine maintenance, diagnosing and repairing mechanical issues, and implementing preventative maintenance programs to minimize equipment downtime. The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem-solver with a strong mechanical aptitude and a commitment to workplace safety.

• Perform routine scheduled maintenance on all plant machinery and equipment according to established procedures.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical breakdowns promptly and efficiently, ensuring minimal disruption to production.
• Install, test, and commission new machinery and equipment as required.
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, including repairs, parts used, and time spent.
• Adhere strictly to health and safety regulations and company policies during all maintenance tasks.
• Assist in developing and implementing preventative maintenance schedules to enhance equipment reliability.

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Maintenance Technician in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and general machinery repair.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
• Skilled in the use of hand and power tools, welding, and machining equipment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on safety.
• Relevant trade qualification (e.g., N3 Mechanical Engineering or equivalent) is required.
