Specialist Chemical Engineer - Production

About the Role

Our client is looking for a dedicated and knowledgeable Specialist Chemical Engineer to join their production team in Durban . This role focuses on optimizing day-to-day manufacturing operations, ensuring consistent product quality, and supporting the scale-up of new products. You will be a key technical resource, working closely with operations staff to troubleshoot process deviations and implement improvements. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of chemical production principles and a passion for continuous improvement in a fast-paced industrial setting.

• Monitor and analyze production process performance, identifying areas for improvement in yield, efficiency, and quality.
• Provide on-the-ground technical support to production teams, resolving process-related issues promptly.
• Implement process changes and optimizations, ensuring they are properly documented and validated.
• Participate in the commissioning and start-up of new production equipment and processes.
• Develop and deliver technical training to operations personnel on process procedures and safety.
• Contribute to process safety management (PSM) programs and ensure compliance.

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering .
• 4-6 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing or production environment.
• Strong practical understanding of unit operations relevant to chemical production.
• Experience with process troubleshooting and root cause analysis techniques.
• Familiarity with quality control systems and documentation best practices.
• Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively with plant operators and management.
