Process Chemical Engineer - Plant Operations

About the Role

Our client is looking for a dedicated Process Chemical Engineer to join their plant operations team in Durban. This role is essential for ensuring the smooth, efficient, and safe operation of our chemical manufacturing facilities. You will be involved in day-to-day process monitoring, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives. This position requires a hands-on approach and a strong understanding of plant operations, contributing directly to the company's production goals and operational integrity within a key industrial hub.

• Monitor plant operations and key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure optimal process performance.
• Conduct regular process audits and inspections to identify potential safety hazards and operational inefficiencies.
• Troubleshoot process upsets and equipment malfunctions, implementing timely and effective solutions.
• Lead initiatives for process improvement, cost reduction, and yield enhancement.
• Develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols.
• Provide technical support to operators and maintenance teams.

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a plant-based chemical engineering role.
• Strong knowledge of chemical plant operations, safety regulations, and environmental compliance.
• Experience with process control systems and instrumentation.
• Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a plant environment in Durban .
