Production Chemist - Oil & Gas

Our client is seeking a dedicated Production Chemist to join their operations team in Durban . This role is crucial for ensuring the quality and efficiency of oil and gas production processes through expert chemical analysis and application. You will be responsible for monitoring chemical treatments, troubleshooting production issues related to chemistry, and optimizing processes to enhance yield and minimize operational costs in the Kwa Zulu-Natal region.

The successful candidate will play a key part in maintaining the integrity of production systems and contributing to the overall success of the company's energy ventures.

• Analyze production samples to monitor fluid properties, contamination, and treatment effectiveness.
• Develop and implement chemical treatment programs for production wells, pipelines, and processing facilities.
• Troubleshoot chemical-related production problems, such as scaling, corrosion, and emulsion formation.
• Recommend and evaluate new chemical technologies to improve production efficiency and asset integrity.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations related to chemical usage and disposal.
• Prepare detailed reports on chemical performance, analysis results, and recommendations for management.

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a chemical role within the oil and gas production sector.
• Proficiency in analytical techniques and laboratory instrumentation relevant to the industry.
• Strong understanding of corrosion, scale inhibition, and emulsion breaking chemistries.
• Experience with production chemistry monitoring and troubleshooting in a field environment near Durban.
