Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Production Engineer to oversee and optimize chemical manufacturing operations in Durban . This role is crucial for ensuring the efficient, safe, and cost-effective production of chemical products, while maintaining the highest quality standards. You will play a key role in troubleshooting production challenges, implementing process improvements, and managing operational performance. Key Responsibilities- Manage and optimize day-to-day chemical production processes to meet output targets and quality specifications.
- Implement process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and lower operational costs.
- Ensure strict adherence to all safety protocols , environmental regulations, and quality management systems.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts for production deviations, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to ensure equipment reliability and performance.
- Supervise and mentor production operators and junior engineering staff.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
- At least 6 years of progressive experience in chemical plant operations and production management.
- Solid understanding of chemical manufacturing principles, equipment, and safety procedures.
- Demonstrated ability in process optimization and problem-solving in a production environment.
- Experience with quality management systems ("ISO 9001") and environmental compliance.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
