We are partnering with an established international manufacturing business to appoint a Production Director to lead its South African manufacturing operation.
This is a technically complex, process-driven operation where raw-material variability, process conditions, plant performance and stringent quality requirements directly impact yield, product consistency, cost and customer supply
.
Reporting to the Managing Director and forming part of the senior leadership team, the Production Director will have overall responsibility for plant performance, bringing together production, process, quality and operational disciplines
.
The successful candidate will:
- Lead a complex continuous and batch process manufacturing operation
. - Drive improvements in yield, throughput, quality, cost and productivity
. - Manage the impact of raw-material variability and process conditions on production performance.
- Ensure production plans, people, processes and plant capability are aligned to customer demand.
- Partner closely with Engineering, Technical and Quality to resolve complex process and equipment challenges.
- Drive continuous improvement, plant reliability and operational efficiency.
- Take ownership of production budgets, variable costs and delivery against broader profitability targets. Production Director-Job Profile
- Maintain stringent quality, food safety and manufacturing standards.
- Lead and develop a multidisciplinary manufacturing team.
- Report on plant performance, risks and priorities to the MD, EXCO and Board.
The role carries joint accountability with the technical function for production output, product quality and production costs

Experience:
- S
ugar processing/refining, brewing, dairy processing, food ingredients, starch/glucose, edible oils or other technically demanding continuous or batch manufacturing environments experience preferred. - Plant leadership
, with strong financial acumen, continuous improvement capability and the ability to lead through operational complexity. - A relevant Engineering, Operations Management or related technical qualification is essential .
