Trainee Mechanical Fitter and Turner

Our client, a well-established manufacturing and engineering firm based in the industrial heartland of Durban , is looking for a motivated Trainee Mechanical Fitter and Turner to join their skilled workshop team. You will be trained in the operation of lathes, milling machines, and other precision tools to create and repair intricate metal components.

Assist experienced fitters and turners in various workshop tasks. Learn to operate and maintain machinery such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders. Fabricate, assemble, and repair metal parts according to specifications and blueprints. Perform precision measurement and inspection of components. Develop skills in reading and interpreting technical drawings and schematics. Understand and apply different metalworking techniques. Ensure all work is carried out to the highest quality and safety standards.

Participate in regular training sessions and skill development programs. Assist with general workshop upkeep and tool maintenance.

Minimum of Grade 12 with a strong background in mathematics and physical science. Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity. Keen attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team. Good problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude. Willingness to undergo a rigorous training program. Physical fitness and ability to handle workshop tasks. Strong work ethic and commitment to punctuality.

Previous exposure to a workshop environment is an advantage.
