Trauma and Emergency Trained Registered Nurse

• Diploma/Degree in Trauma and Emergency Nursing
• Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)
• Diploma/Degree in General Nursing
• 8+ Years Experience in Trauma and Emergency Department

• Previous Trauma and Emergency Nursing Experience
• 8+ Years Experience in Trauma and Emergency Department
• Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced Emergency Department
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• BLS certification advantageous.
• ACLS certification advantageous.

• Deliver comprehensive, evidence-based nursing care to trauma and emergency patients in accordance with hospital policies and best practice standards.
• Perform rapid patient assessments, triage, and prioritise care based on the severity and urgency of patients’ conditions.
• Monitor, assess, and manage critically ill or injured patients, recognising and responding promptly to changes in their clinical condition.
• Initiate emergency interventions within scope of practice and collaborate effectively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Assist with emergency procedures, trauma resuscitations, and life-saving interventions in a fast-paced emergency environment.
• Administer prescribed medications, intravenous therapy, blood products, and other treatments safely and accurately.
• Operate and monitor emergency and critical care equipment, ensuring all equipment is functional and readily available.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive patient documentation in accordance with legal and professional standards.
• Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control measures, patient safety initiatives, and quality assurance protocols.
• Educate patients and their families regarding treatment plans, discharge instructions, and ongoing care where appropriate.
• Participate in emergency preparedness, disaster management, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
• Mentor and support junior nursing staff, students, and newly appointed team members where required.
• Collaborate effectively with doctors, allied healthcare professionals, and support staff to deliver exceptional patient-centred care.
• Maintain professional competency through ongoing education and adherence to the standards of the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
