A leading client within the retail sector is seeking for an experienced and driven Retail Supervisor to join their team in Chatsworth, Durban
. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing daily store operations, managing staff performance, and ensuring smooth workflow within a high-volume retail environment. The ideal candidate must have strong leadership skills and proven experience supervising a large headcount
, with the ability to manage, motivate and support a diverse team while maintaining operational standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage daily activities of retail staff to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Allocate duties and monitor staff performance.
  • Manage a large team and ensure employees adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Assist with recruitment, onboarding, training and staff development.
  • Handle employee-related matters, including attendance, leave management and performance concerns.
  • Liaise with HR regarding employee records and workplace matters.
  • Monitor payroll‑related information and ensure accurate submission of timesheets.
  • Provide basic IT support and assist with system-related queries.
  • Ensure excellent customer service standards are maintained.
  • Monitor stock processes, merchandising standards, and store compliance.
  • Prepare reports and provide feedback to management.
  • Ensure health and safety standards are followed within the workplace.
Requirements:
  • Diploma or Degree in Human Resources Management or a related field (essential).
  • Minimum 1-year supervisory experience
    , preferably within the retail sector.
  • Proven experience managing and supervising a large number of employees
    .
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of HR processes, payroll procedures, and basic IT systems
    .
  • Ability to manage staff attendance, performance, and disciplinary processes.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced retail environment.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including overtime when required.
