Youth Counsellor

Our client is seeking an empathetic and skilled Youth Counsellor to work with young people in the Durban area. This role is dedicated to providing essential support, guidance, and intervention for adolescents facing personal, social, and emotional challenges. You will play a vital part in empowering youth, helping them develop coping mechanisms, and fostering positive life choices. This is a hands-on role requiring direct interaction with youth in various settings, contributing to their development and well-being within the community.

• Provide individual and group counselling services to adolescents.
• Develop and implement programs focused on youth development, life skills, and conflict resolution.
• Assess the needs of young people and create appropriate intervention plans.
• Liaise with schools, families, and other community organizations to provide holistic support.
• Facilitate workshops and educational sessions on relevant topics for youth and parents.
• Maintain confidential records of client interactions and progress.

• Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, or a related discipline.
• Previous experience working with adolescents in a counselling or support role.
• Knowledge of adolescent development and common psychological issues.
• Strong communication and active listening skills, with the ability to connect with young people.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders in the Durban region.
• Registered with a relevant professional body.
