Senior Backend Software Engineer

Our client, a prominent software development house in Durban , is seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer to contribute to the design and development of complex enterprise-level applications. You will be instrumental in building scalable, efficient, and secure server-side logic, managing databases, and integrating with various third-party services. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with modern backend technologies, a strong understanding of software architecture patterns, and a passion for writing high-quality, maintainable code.

This role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver robust solutions that meet business objectives.

• Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable server-side applications using languages such as Java, Python, or C#.
• Build and manage RESTful APIs and microservices, ensuring seamless integration with front-end applications and third-party systems.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in backend software development.
• Strong proficiency in one or more server-side programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, C#, Go, Node.js).
• Extensive experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs.
• Solid understanding of database technologies (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB) and data modeling.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with message queuing systems (e.g., RabbitMQ, Kafka) and caching mechanisms (e.g., Redis).
• Knowledge of software design patterns, SOLID principles, and microservices architecture.
• Experience with testing frameworks and practices (unit, integration, end-to-end testing).
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities, with experience in agile methodologies.
