Duties & Responsibilities

  • Receive instructions and documents from clients to arrange customs clearance of shipment.
  • Open file and update register with shipment details.
  • Cross-check and validate shipping documents (invoices, packing list, bill of lading, certificates of origin etc.).
  • Processing Electronic Road Manifest (ERM) for Over Border transit cargo.
  • Preparing Shipping orders to be processed by TPT.
  • Process customs clearance and port documents for Import and Export shipments
  • Submit EUR1 certificate of origin for processing by Customs.
  • Processing Cargo Dues on the TNPA online system.
  • Preparing and submitting weekly and monthly statistics for import and export shipments.
  • Preparing and checking invoices to be authorized.
  • Co-ordinate and arrange for customs documents, shipping and port documents to be processed for empty container sales, ships spares/stores
  • Follow up on acquittal documents
  • Engage directly with SARS and internal teams to resolve clearances, stops and documentation issues.
  • Ensure timeous release and delivery co-ordination for import and export shipments, minimizing delays, demurrage and storage costs.
  • Processing documents for export shipments.
  • Co-ordinate and arrange for bookings, empty container placing/packing, customs documentation, shipping instructions and port documents to be processed.
  • Receive instructions and documents from clients to arrange customs clearance and exportation of shipment.
  • Co-ordinate and arrange customs, shipping and port documentation for export/coastwise/transshipment shipments
  • Co-ordinate and process documents for MSC Vessel amendments
  • Prepare and/or submit export certificates for clients.
  • Tracking of shipments
  • Quoting and advising clients of export requirements/procedures
  • Preparing statistics
  • Co-ordination of break bulk shipments
  • Customs supervision/documents
  • General miscellaneous customs and operational matters.
Desired Experience & Qualification

Education:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • A degree or professional certification in logistics management is preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5-10 years of experience with import and export shipments, clearing and forwarding related aspects of Sea/Road/Air.
  • Strong knowledge of incoterms, shipping documents.
  • Must possess customs knowledge.

Skills:

  • The incumbent must be hard working and meticulous.
  • Be able to work under pressure.
  • Also be able to work with minimum supervision but within a team.
  • Computer literate
  • Good communication skills (Verbal & Written)
  • Situation analysis and problem solving.
  • Good Interpersonal skills
  • Client orientation
  • Accuracy
  • Methodical
  • Work after hours when required.
