About the Role
Our client is looking for a dedicated Fleet Manager to oversee their extensive vehicle fleet operations, functioning remotely with an operational base near Durban . This role is crucial for ensuring the safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness of the entire fleet, which supports their widespread delivery network. You will be responsible for vehicle maintenance schedules, driver performance, regulatory compliance, and implementing best practices in fleet management.
The ideal candidate possesses strong leadership skills, a thorough understanding of vehicle mechanics, and is adept at managing a dispersed team and assets through remote monitoring and communication tools.
- Manage the daily operations of a large commercial vehicle fleet, ensuring optimal performance and uptime.
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and repair costs.
- Monitor driver behavior and performance, providing coaching and enforcing company policies.
- Ensure full compliance with all national and provincial transportation regulations and safety standards.
- Oversee vehicle acquisition, disposal, and licensing processes.
- Utilize fleet management software for tracking, reporting, and analysis of key performance indicators.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Fleet Management or a related logistics supervisory role.
- In-depth knowledge of commercial vehicle maintenance, repair, and regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency in using fleet management software and data analysis tools.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage remote teams and operations effectively.
- A valid driver's license is required; commercial licenses are advantageous.
