About the Role
Our client is seeking a meticulous and proactive Logistics Planner to join their team in Durban . This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth and efficient movement of goods within the company's supply chain. You will be responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating transportation and delivery activities to meet customer demands and optimize routes. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a comprehensive understanding of transportation regulations and best practices in the Kwa Zulu-Natal region.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and schedule the transportation of goods, optimizing routes and loads for maximum efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Coordinate with carriers, drivers, and customers to ensure timely pick-up and delivery of shipments.
- Monitor shipment progress and proactively address any delays or issues that may arise.
- Maintain accurate records of all transportation activities, including shipment details, costs, and delivery times.
- Collaborate with warehouse teams to ensure efficient loading and unloading processes.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve transportation efficiency and reduce operational costs.
- Proven experience as a Logistics Planner or in a similar transportation planning role.
- Solid understanding of transportation management systems (TMS) and logistics software .
- Knowledge of freight regulations, shipping documentation, and customs procedures.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with keen attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Proficiency in using spreadsheets and other relevant software for planning and reporting.
