Dispatch and Scheduling Officer

Our client is seeking a meticulous and efficient Dispatch and Scheduling Officer to join their team in Durban. This role is central to ensuring the smooth and timely coordination of all transportation activities. You will be responsible for managing driver schedules, optimizing routes, and responding effectively to operational demands and unexpected changes. • Develop and manage daily and weekly driver schedules, ensuring optimal resource allocation and coverage.
• Plan and optimize delivery routes to minimize travel time and fuel consumption.
• Communicate effectively with drivers, clients, and internal departments regarding dispatch information and any schedule changes.
• Monitor driver performance and adherence to schedules, addressing any issues promptly.
• Maintain accurate dispatch records and update the transportation management system (TMS) in real-time.
• Respond to urgent requests and adapt schedules as needed to accommodate operational needs or unforeseen circumstances in Durban.

• Proven experience in dispatch, scheduling, or a similar role within the transportation or logistics industry.
• Strong understanding of route planning and optimization techniques.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Proficiency with dispatch software and GPS tracking systems.
