Role: Staff Accountant

Reports to: Controller

Compensation: Dependent upon experience

Position Overview

CT Wilson Construction Co., Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Staff Accountant to support our core accounting operations. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records through general ledger management, accounts payable and receivable functions, and weekly payroll processing. The ideal candidate is proactive, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced construction environment. The Staff Accountant plays a vital role in keeping our financial operations accurate, efficient, and aligned with company standards.

Key Responsibilities General Ledger
  • Prepare and post journal entries
  • Reconcile bank accounts and ledger accounts
  • Maintain fixed asset schedule
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
Accounts Payable
  • Approve invoices not coded to jobs
  • Review weekly check run for accuracy
  • Create, upload, and release weekly payment files to the bank
Accounts Receivable
  • Monitor outstanding A/R balances
  • Communicate with project teams and customers to resolve aging issues
Payroll
  • Process weekly payroll
  • Review and approve employee time entries
  • Set up new hires in the payroll system
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Associate’s degree in Accounting
  • 2+ years of related experience; construction accounting experience preferred
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • High attention to detail with effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in accounting software; experience with construction or job-cost systems is a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Intermediate or better Excel skills
