We’re looking for a part-time Social Media Contractor to assist our team with attending Durham-based events and going to businesses and attractions in Durham to capture and create social media content. The content will contribute or be repurposed for Discover Durham’s social accounts ultimately incr

Capture content to be published on Discover Durham’s accounts:

• Attend Durham-based events that drive visitation and economic development (includes evenings and weekends)
• Go to businesses and attractions within Durham County as determined by the Marketing team’s editorial calendar
• Curate user-generated content and other publicly available assets to contribute to or be repurposed for Discover Durham’s social posts
• Produce a bank of b-roll and other multimedia elements of top visitor-facing attractions to be used for social media posts across accounts
• Depending on the contractor’s skillsets, design social media graphics or animations
• Depending on the contractor’s skillsets, lead and capture interviews small business owners, event goers, etc. to provide sound bites or testimonials and third-party validation in content pieces as warranted.

Must be available to work evenings and weekends
Must have a personal computer and internet to access Discover Durham’s software and subscription platforms, as well as a smartphone capable of capturing high-quality photos and videos for social media content.
Experience creating content for a brand social media account
Experience covering events or other live initiatives for a branded account.
A familiarity or understanding of the Durham and what sets it apart is preferred
Candidates are required to submit links to at least three social posts they have independently created, demonstrating high quality of work and creativity
