Job Summary:

Our ideal candidate is passionate about creating high impact content that resonates with a diverse audience. The candidate has a deep understanding of utilizing all the resources, tools, and live elements to deliver an energetic and compelling news product. This person should be excited to craft their editorial vision to connect and reflect the audience we serve.

Producers must work well with anchors, reporters, assignment editors, writers, directors and graphic artists

Responsibilities and Duties of the Role:

• Produce and manage daily newscasts, overseeing all editorial and production elements while writing clear, compelling broadcast copy.
• Pitch and develop story ideas aligned with the station’s news strategy, collaborating closely with newsroom and digital teams throughout the day.
• Execute shows efficiently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, including handling last-minute changes under pressure.
• Bring strong editorial judgment, attention to detail, and top-level local news producing experience, with flexibility to work varied and non-traditional hours.

Required Education, Experience/Skills/Training:

• 3 – 5 years of experience at a local television news station with strong editorial judgment and storytelling skills.
• Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines in a fast-paced, high-pressure newsroom environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to adapt quickly to breaking news and schedule changes.

Preferred Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent professional newsroom experience. Advance degree is a plus.

PAY TRANSPARENCY

The hiring range for this position in Durham, NC is $63,100 to $84,500 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
