- Out of state applicants will be advised to submit proof of an equivalency check by the NC Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards at the time of their applicant package review. Failure to do so will disqualify them.
- NC applicants must successfully complete BLET.
- Applicants who are not currently NC BLET certified will have to show proof of enrollment at the applicant package review.
- All applicants must have the rule of four (Rule of Four = four year degree, two year degree and two years full time sworn experience, or four years full time sworn experience). Sworn experience starts the date they took the oath of office, not the date they were hired with the department and began a BLET academy. Their sworn experience does not begin the first day they report to work or the academy.
The sworn experience begins on the date they are sworn in.
