Primary Function of Organizational Unit

The mission of the Department of Nutrition Sciences is to foster excellence in nutrition and dietetics education by empowering diverse undergraduate and graduate students through innovative learning experiences to prepare future nutrition professionals who use evidence‑based practices to enhance health and wellness across all populations. The department offers competitive distance education programs leading to a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics (accredited DPD), Master of Science in Nutritional Science with various concentrations, and a Master of Science in Nutritional Sciences with Dietetics concentration (accredited GP).

Experimentation and research are integral to the curriculum.

Primary Purpose of Position

The Lecturer position will teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses as qualified in the Department of Nutrition Sciences; advise students; evaluate and grade assignments in a timely manner; provide feedback; follow university grading procedures; participate in departmental meetings and university activities including student recruitment. Presence on campus is required for student support and events. Strong technology training and the ability to deliver distance education courses are required.

Teaching a wide variety of nutrition courses, especially in food service and food science, is desired.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Demonstrate effectiveness in teaching online undergraduate and graduate courses in nutrition, with particular strength in food service, food service management, and food science; ability to work with students with minimal complaints; experience in dietetics with preferred RDN credential; commitment to departmental and university mission; excellent oral and written communication, strong interpersonal skills, analytical skills, and reasoned judgment; ability to work independently and collaboratively;

knowledge of instruction delivery via CANVAS or similar systems and experience with technology‑integrated learning environments.

Minimum Education /Experience

Master’s degree in Nutrition or related field (Doctorate strongly preferred). Credentialing as a Registered Dietitian required. Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate or graduate courses in nutrition; strong technology skills related to distance education delivery.

Licenses or Certification Required

Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist (RDN) credential required.
