Purpose of Position

The Supplemental Instruction Coordinator II plans and facilitates instruction and remediation for students taking exit exams such as Praxis II and Pearson tests. The SIC II supports students in Gateway 2‑5, teaching an in‑person and/or hybrid course (EDU 2020) each semester that supplements teacher education while maintaining Title III records, logs, individual plans, and related documentation.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Experience with preparation requirements for teacher education candidates in North Carolina; ability to lead academic remediation that enhances student engagement and success within the Teacher Education program; knowledge of current literature, research, and innovations in higher education; teamwork and relationship‑building skills with multiple stakeholders; and capacity to conduct other assignments as directed by the Dean and the Title III Director.

Minimum Education /Experience

Master's degree from an accredited institution/program in a relevant field plus a minimum of three (3) years of related public school teaching experience or public school professional administrative experience.

Licenses or Certification

NC Teaching License or eligibility for NC Teaching License strongly preferred.

Primary

Responsibilities and Duties Instructional
  • Provide support for candidates in Gateway 2‑5 taking the Teacher Education Program Exit Exam (Praxis II Content Areas and Pearson Foundation of Reading).
  • Teach an in‑person and/or hybrid course each semester on Praxis II preparation.
  • Manage and maintain records on Canvas.
  • Co‑manage student use of the Praxis Lab.
  • Create individualized student success plans.
  • Facilitate a collaborative learning environment through peer engagement and group discussion.
  • Collaborate with faculty to align instructional support with curriculum standards.
  • Ensure comprehensive and cohesive guidance for students.
  • Solicit regular feedback from students to improve instruction.
Administrative
  • Maintain detailed records, attendance logs, and student success plans.
  • Assist in preparing monthly and quarterly Title III reports.
  • Collaborate with Title III and other departments.
  • Assist in hiring and supervising a Graduate Assistant.
  • Assist in writing the annual grant proposal.
  • Manage the Title III budget.
  • Communicate promptly with stakeholders via email and other channels.
  • Oversee all data portals for the department.
