PrimaryFunction of Organizational Unit
The Department of Kinesiology and Recreation Administration provides students with skills and knowledge for careers in Kinesiology and Recreation Administration and prepares graduates for Master and PhD programs. The department’s mission is to prepare professionals in Sports Medicine, Kinesiology, Physical Education, and Recreation Administration, and to facilitate practical research and service. Programs include undergraduate concentrations in Fitness and Wellness, Strength and Conditioning, Physical Education, Parks and Recreation Management, Recreational Sport Management (with Business and Sports Coaching Minors), and Recreational Therapy.
PrimaryPurpose of Position
Teach 12 hours per semester in the Kinesiology undergraduate program. Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate courses in adapted fitness, exercise physiology, biomechanics, fitness assessment, and program design (face-to-face, hybrid, online). Participate in curricular development, engage in professional service, and contribute to department and university activities.
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities- Teach 12 hours per semester; advise undergraduate students.
- Complete committee assignments for department and university.
- Participate in curricular and programmatic development; develop community and university partnerships; engage in professional and public service.
- Demonstrate technological proficiency and the ability to develop and deliver online courses.
The successful candidate must have a Master of Science Degree in Kinesiology, Fitness, Recreation or related field. At least two years of University-level teaching experience. Evidence of at least one nationally recognized certification (CSCS, ACSM, NSCA, etc.). Experience teaching Kinesiology, Fitness, Sport or related courses including adaptations and modifications of movements. Ability to develop and teach online courses. Ability to recruit, advise, and mentor undergraduate students, and serve on departmental committees.
