[2026 - 2027] KIPP Durham Middle School Multilingual Lead Teacher (Grades 6-8; starting salary $70K)
Knowledge is Power Program (KIPP) North Carolina is a network of eight tuition‑free, college‑preparatory public charter schools educating approximately 3,000 students in grades K‑12 in Durham, Halifax, Northampton and Mecklenburg counties. We are committed to improving the life outcomes of North Carolina’s children through research‑based, rigorous curricula and by ensuring every student has the roadmap and guidance needed to succeed.
Responsibilities- Review, internalize, and prepare KIPP NC approved curriculum for K‑8 Math, ELA, Science and 9‑12 all subjects.
- Deliver high‑quality instruction and practice lessons to execute curriculum at a high level.
- Create exemplar responses and documents to hold students accountable.
- Use assessment data (Interim Assessments, MAP, EOGs, EOCs, summative, formative, etc.) to drive instruction and adjust lessons to meet students’ needs.
- Embrace and incorporate feedback to pursue excellence.
- Maintain accurate gradebook, records, and data tracking systems.
- Embody and maintain the school’s values, policies, and culture.
- Assume personal responsibility for student achievement.
- Maintain a clean classroom displaying student work and appropriate decorations.
- Develop positive relationships with students, families, teachers, and staff through regular communication and attendance at required events.
- Participate in daily school functions including arrival, advisory/circle time, lunch duty, recess, and dismissal.
- Collaborate with your coach to identify strengths and growth areas for professional development each year.
- Receive and implement weekly feedback with fidelity.
- Attend Professional Development Tuesdays & Wednesdays from 3:30 – 5:00 pm each week.
- Deep commitment to the mission of KIPP NC and an unwavering belief in the potential of all students.
- 3+ years of teaching experience in K‑12, preferably in a high‑performing charter school.
- Demonstrated commitment to closing the opportunity gap.
- Valid North Carolina teaching license, or willingness to pursue and attain state certification within the first 6 months of being hired.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant content area.
- Pass Criminal Background Check.
- Enthusiasm, grit, professionalism, and a sense of humor.
- Ability to stand and actively monitor classrooms for 8+ hours each day.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs or more as necessary.
- More than 3 full years of teaching experience in K‑12.
- Experience in teaching in a high‑performing charter school and/or schools with a high population of students with free and reduced lunch.
- Demonstrated success in raising achievement levels of economically marginalized students.
- Passed or will pass the Praxis exams by September 2025.
- Fluency in Spanish.
- Competitive salary paid semi‑monthly throughout the year.

- Work Hours:
7:30 am – 5:00 pm Monday–Thursday, 7:30 am – 3:45 pm Friday. - Outside of work hours:
Provide Saturday School for students in need and Summer Academy as requested by school leadership. - Curriculum, materials, and resources are provided.
- Each month teachers have Teacher Work Days that include professional development, data analysis, and other important information to support student learning.
