Primary Function of Organizational Unit

North Carolina Central University, with a strong tradition of teaching, research, and service, prepares students to become global leaders and practitioners who transform communities. The Faculty of NCCU are essential in achieving this mission. The Office of Faculty Professional Development (OFPD) serves the NCCU faculty with activities and programs designed to improve instruction in higher education. The OFPD is a Title III Activity and is supported by Title III-B funding.

The mission of the OFPD is to encourage excellence in teaching through programs for course development, redesign and improvement, implementation of research-based instructional strategies, and support services to faculty that encourage instructional development and efficiency for faculty at the university and collegiate level.

The Office of Faculty Professional Development (OFPD) is a resource dedicated to providing comprehensive programming for professional development; including creative and sustainable strategies for improved andragogy in all disciplines, support for increasing faculty productivity in research and scholarship, and innovative approaches to assessment and evaluation.
