Target Start Date Expected Work HoursA minimum of a 40-hour work week as determined by the supervisor to allow the employee to fulfill the assigned duties and responsibilities, including evening and occasional weekend hours. Summer schedules may vary. Availability for both day and evening employment on any Durham Technical Community College site (or arranged off-campus site) is required. Travel:
Local travel is required, including between campus locations. Out-of-state travel is limited but may be required for special training/conferences.

Position DescriptionDo Great Things! Durham Technical Community College is hiring a Career Coachin the High School Partnerships Department. The Career Coach works collaboratively with faculty and staff of Durham Tech and Orange County Schools to promote and deliver a seamless transition process for high school students into the college. The Career Coach is responsible for helping high school students define their career aspirations and identify community college programs and/or training to meet their career goals.
The Career Coach will educate students to make informed decisions regarding career and academic plans in preparation for success in post-secondary education and training.
- Provide career exploration, planning, and development guidance and college advisement to high school students;
- Develop and maintain quality partnerships with local business and industry leaders to promote career readiness among students;
- Collaborate with high school Career Development Coordinator to provide students with appropriate work-based learning opportunities;
- Engage students, counselors, faculty, parents, and other stakeholders in order to provide information sessions related to college success and opportunities at Durham Tech;
- Work in collaboration with high school Career Development Coordinators to promote CTE degree options and careers and to develop career plans;
- Participate in school-related activities at which Durham Tech can be promoted (e.g., parent nights, grade-level meetings, financial aid events);
- Collaborate with the college liaison to assist with CCP
- Advise prospective students through the recruitment and enrollment process;
- Maintain records for enrollment, tracking, and audit reporting purposes;
- Conduct tours on campus for high school students;
- Maintain quality partnerships with secondary school personnel in collaboration with the Director, College Recruitment and High School Partnerships;
- Participate in team meetings and professional development activities, as directed by the Director, College Recruitment and High School Partnerships.
- Assume other necessary responsibilities and perform additional tasks as assigned by the Vice President, and/or President in meeting the needs of the program, department, division and the college.
Institutional Responsibilities
- Participate in program, departmental, divisional and institutional meetings and other activities;
- Facilitate new student orientation sessions;
- Fulfill committee assignments and other special appointments within the educational community;
- Take advantage of in-service training and other opportunities for professional development, including attendance at off-campus activities and generally staying current in the field;
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Career Coach, High School Partnerships & comply with college policies and procedures.
