Policy Analyst, Assistant – Margolis Institute for Health Policy, Hybrid (Washington, DC or Durham)
About the PositionThe Robert J. Margolis, MD, Institute for Health Policy at Duke University is seeking a Policy Analyst, Assistant to support research within our Biomedical Innovation portfolio. The role focuses on policy around medical product development, approval, and regulation, with an emphasis on real‑world data and cell and gene therapies.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct health‑policy focused background research and literature reviews.
- Draft summaries, policy briefs, white papers, blog posts, and peer‑reviewed publications.
- Assist planning and execution of meetings, workshops, and round tables related to medical product development and regulation.
- Analyze quantitative and qualitative data, synthesize findings into clear written and oral reports.
- Coordinate logistics for conferences and stakeholder engagement events.
- Support principal investigators in developing presentations and speaking points.
- Maintain liaison with project participants, faculty, and stakeholders to ensure project deliverables.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in policy, public health, public administration, economics, science, engineering, law, or a related field.
- No additional experience required beyond the degree.
- Strong research and writing experience.
- Ability to synthesize content from diverse sources.
- Clear written communication and ability to simplify complex information.
- Professional interaction with senior‑level policymakers and stakeholders.
- Effective independent and collaborative work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and quick learning of new software.
- Training or experience in health policy, public policy, or public health.
- Administrative or project‑coordination experience.

Annual base salary range: USD 51,450 to USD 77,950. (Base pay only; does not include incentives or bonuses.)
