PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
As part of the nephrology healthcare team, you will provide safe and effective dialysis therapy under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
- Set up, test, and operate hemodialysis machines.
- Obtain and document pre- and post-treatment vital signs and weights.
- Evaluate vascular access pre-treatment and perform cannulation.
- Monitor patient response and address intradialytic problems as prescribed.
- Discontinue dialysis according to procedures and evaluate patient condition.
- Report significant changes to the supervisor.
- Accurately enter treatment data into clinical systems.
- Collect, label, and store lab samples properly.
- Clean and disinfect equipment and treatment areas between sessions.
- Assist in patient education.
- Manage supplies efficiently to prevent waste.
EDUCATION AND LICENSES :
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS :
- Dependable, compassionate, supportive, and collaborative traits.
- Experience in patient care preferred but not required.
- Successful completion of dialysis training and CPR certification required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS :
- Must pass Ishihara's Color Blindness test; accommodations considered.
- Work involves computer use, patient interaction, and travel between facilities.
- Work environment includes healthcare setting with exposure to infectious materials.
- Requires heavy lifting, prolonged standing, and physical activity, with assistance available for heavier tasks.
