Resourceful and self-motivated individuals sought to handle day-to-day operations at a state-of-the-art data center near Durham, NC. Responsibilities could include, for example, managing the build-out, bring-up, and ongoing maintenance of some of the world’s most advanced supercomputers and industry-leading GPU clusters, as well as creating, implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting the processes and infrastructure code to provision and operate these machines.

Relevant candidates may have a technical background in data center operations, Linux systems administration, high-performance computing, and/or computer programming. Some background in technology support, computer manufacturing, hardware inventory management, or project planning is desirable but not required. More important than any particular experience, however, is organizational ability; attention to detail; and ability and desire to learn quickly, troubleshoot technical problems, and rapidly become proficient in the tools required to support a high-performance computing facility.

Ideal candidates will excel at working independently, problem-solving, and communicating effectively with engineers and managers located in other offices. Shaw Research (DESRES) develops and uses advanced computational technologies to understand the behavior of biologically and pharmaceutically significant molecules at an atomic level of detail, and to design precisely targeted, highly selective drugs for the treatment of various diseases. Among its core technologies is Anton, a proprietary special-purpose supercomputer that DESRES designed and constructed to vastly accelerate the process of molecular dynamics simulation.

The expected annual base salary for this position is $75,000–$150,000. Our compensation package also includes variable compensation in the form of sign-on and year-end bonuses, and generous benefits, including relocation and immigration assistance. The applicable annual base salary paid to a successful applicant will be determined based on multiple factors including the nature and extent of prior experience and educational background.

The hire for this role would be expected to work from the data center five days a week.
