We are looking for a highly driven, adaptable, results-oriented, technical leader to join our team as a hands-on manager of the Development and IT Operations team for our client. Successful candidates will have experience managing Windows-based and Linux-based environments and overseeing production infrastructure using configuration management tools such as Puppet, Chef, Jenkins, Ansible, etc. The ideal candidate has demonstrated the ability to effectively and cost-efficiently manage cloud-based infrastructure (AWS) for a growing organization.
In this role, you will manage an engineering team building a high-performance, high-availability, stable, scalable, and secure mobile and cloud-based computing system serving Global Fortune 500 customers and nearly 1 billion mobile devices.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a team of passionate Dev Ops engineers while remaining very hands-on.
- Orchestrate provisioning, load balancing, dynamic configuration, monitoring, and spend optimization of servers in the AWS cloud. Be the subject matter expert on Dev Ops technologies.
- Define, implement, and maintain information security best practices.
- Manage the development of internal engineering productivity tools.
- Responsible for the development and operation of continuous integration and deployment pipelines.
- Set up and tune monitoring systems to effectively detect, predict, and prevent issues.
- Define long-term operations strategy leveraging cutting-edge technologies.
- Work in an Agile and Kanban environment with multiple product organizations.
- Develop CI/CD pipelines and automate all aspects of the SDLC.
- Strive to achieve the highest levels of system availability, performance, and security.
- Build an operational team that meets current and future demands and needs.
- Manage backup, licensing, and hardware/software purchasing.
- Manage virtual machines and administer servers running in private and public clouds.
- Be a key player in configuration management, provisioning, and orchestration.
- Use tools to monitor and diagnose website and application performance.
- Provide on-call technical support, including working nights and weekends as needed.
- Assess the need for system reconfigurations and execute them if required.
- Lead network connectivity assurance, perform network and security audits, and manage system backups.
- Automate pipelines and environments, build resilient systems, and create repeatable processes.
- Communicate status, risks, resolution plans, upcoming milestones, and recent releases to cross-functional teams.
- Ensure service level commitments are achieved.
Required Experience
- Experience with configuration management, provisioning, and orchestration tools like Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Docker, etc.
- Provisioning, administration, and management of cloud resources.
- Experience with relational databases such as MySQL and/or Postgre
SQL. - Experience working in rapidly scaling startup environments.
- Knowledge of IT operations frameworks like ITIL.
- Experience with compliance controls such as PCI and SOX.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science.
- 5+ years of Dev Ops engineering experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Strong background with highly scalable distributed systems.
- Expertise in AWS cloud technologies (EC2, RDS, Cloud Watch, etc.).
- Scripting skills in Bash, Power Shell, Python, Ruby, etc.
- Experience with microservice and container-based architectures.
- Managing MySQL and Redshift databases.
- Passion for automation using tools like Chef, Puppet, Ansible, etc.
- Experience working in production environments, preferably with SaaS companies.
- Proficiency with Linux and open-source technologies.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to research software issues and present solutions clearly.
- Highly self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience leading and developing successful Dev/IT teams.
