Hours:

8:00 a.m.

- 5:00 p.m.

The City‑County Building & Safety Department helps Durham achieve its vision for a superior built environment by facilitating our customers' achievements. This requires highly qualified staff with a passion for working in partnership and service with the community.

This role collaborates closely with the Technology Solutions Department, which builds and aligns the City’s information technology infrastructure so that departments can deliver a superior level of public service.

Responsibilities
  • Provides ongoing technical support to assigned software, hardware, network, and related technology systems, infrastructure, and programs; troubleshoots issues and facilitates business operations; maintains records of support issues; monitors system performance; and addresses complex support issues.
  • Assesses client or business needs; researches, analyzes, and recommends technology solutions; and extracts data to provide reports, maps, and other documents.
  • Coordinates with City departments to provide user and systems support; attends meetings; creates user documentation and system documentation; and plans and conducts training as assigned.
  • Installs hardware and software patches and upgrades; participates in ad-hoc technology projects and may serve as project manager for smaller projects or assist with project management on larger projects.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or a directly related field OR equivalent experience.
  • Two years of related experience.
  • Valid, unrestricted North Carolina driver's license (or a driver's license from another state, with willingness to obtain a valid NC license within 60 days of hire).
