Piper Companies is seeking a Staff Full Stack / AI Engineer for a leading education technology platform in Durham, NC
. The Staff Full Stack / AI Engineer will focus on designing and building prototypes for AI-driven features, integrating machine learning concepts, and contributing to technical planning and architecture. This is a hybrid position based in Durham, NC.
- Design and build working prototypes for new features such as exam readiness, content individualization, and directed topic tutoring & learning
- Expand organizational knowledge and capabilities by continually monitoring, testing, and benchmarking the rapidly evolving AI space
- Lead and contribute to technical planning by defining scope, evaluating complexity, and architecting solutions that grow from R&D efforts
- Collaborate across engineering, product, and design teams to iterate quickly and validate ideas with minimal viable implementations
- Champion engineering excellence through mentorship, code reviews, and fostering a strong culture of quality and innovation
- Strong Type Script experience (7+ years)
- Proven experience with LLMs and ML/AI concepts
- Python experience for AI/ML integration and experimentation
- Self-driven, hacker mindset with a passion for problem-solving and iterative development
- Must be eligible to work in the United States
- $175,000–$210,000 annually
- Full comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), PTO, and sick leave as required by law
