Summary
This buyer will support internal stakeholders by managing supplier relationships, issuing purchase orders, and controlling procurement costs while ensuring material deliveries align with project schedules.
- Sourcing
- Support the sourcing team to prepare and facilitate RFPs, obtain supplier quotes, and compile price analysis and bids focused on substation equipment and materials.
- Identify, recommend and execute cost‑saving opportunities through alternative materials, suppliers and processes.
- Purchasing
- Process purchase requisitions and issue purchase orders in accordance with established procedures and project schedules.
- Coordinate with suppliers to negotiate the best terms, pricing, delivery and quality requirements.
- Support projects to monitor and provide updates related to delivery schedule updates for equipment and materials, adjusting expected dates in the scheduling system in coordination with stakeholders.
- Track and control purchasing costs to support project budgets.
- Collaborate with PGS group to validate material spec approvals, substitutions and replacements when needed.
- Track internal reporting metrics such as cost savings, supplier performance and delivery reliability.
- Occasionally travel to project sites to meet with logistics and PGS group to understand material and delivery challenges.
- Assist in identifying process improvements to support continuous improvement in supply chain operations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field required.
- 2+ years of Supply Chain experience required.
- APICS Supply Chain Certification a plus.
- Process‑oriented mindset.
- Proactive and organized with attention to detail.
- Analytical thinking and problem‑solving.
- Ability to work cross‑functionally in a fast‑paced environment.
