As our Senior Director Network Strategy, you'll drive the strategic evolution of our biologics manufacturing network, ensuring we’re positioned to deliver breakthrough therapies to patients worldwide.
This role sits within Global Supply Chain and Strategy, where you’ll take strategic ownership of our biologics drug substance platform and shape the future of our global manufacturing footprint.
What You'll Do Strategic Leadership- Develop and execute comprehensive network strategies for the biologics drug substance platform across AstraZeneca's global operations
- Lead strategic evaluations of our supply chain footprint, including make‑vs‑buy decisions and contract manufacturing partnerships
- Drive capacity planning by analyzing portfolio demand and aligning supply options to meet current and future requirements
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with Biologics Global Technical Operations, BPD, Global Engineering, and GSSDs to integrate emerging pipeline technologies into our network strategy
- Evaluate and optimize asset utilization, identifying opportunities for network optimization and efficiency improvements
- Design the biologics drug substance network to support AstraZeneca's exciting pipeline of breakthrough therapies and emerging modalities
- Provide strategic input on capital allocation decisions with direct accountability for Cap Ex prioritization within your platform
- Assess financial implications of strategic options, analyzing impact on Cap Ex, OpEx, and inventory optimization
- Represent Global Operations in senior cross‑functional decision‑making forums
- Partner closely with Global Biologics Operations and Biopharmaceutical Development teams
- Influence product development processes to ensure effective supply chain design for new biologics
- Act as an external ambassador for AstraZeneca's Global Operations function
- Challenge and influence senior stakeholders across the organization when strategic alignment is needed
- 10‑15 years in biologics manufacturing, supply chain, or strategic operations roles
- Proven track record in leading cross‑functional teams and driving strategic initiatives
- Expertise in biologics drug substance manufacturing processes and technologies
- Strong background in supply chain design, capacity planning, and network optimization
- Experience in pharmaceutical product development processes and regulatory environments
- Strategic thinking: Scenario planning, long‑range strategy development, and complex problem‑solving
- Financial acumen: Business case development, capital allocation, and P&L impact assessment
- Leadership: Matrix team management, stakeholder influence, and change management
- Communication: Executive‑level presentation skills and ability to articulate complex strategies
- Industry knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of pharmaceutical/biotech operations and global regulatory landscape
You’ll directly impact AstraZeneca’s ability to deliver life‑changing medicines by ensuring our biologics manufacturing network is strategically positioned for current portfolio needs and future growth. Your decisions will influence billions in capital investment and affect our ability to serve patients globally.

The annual base pay (or hourly rate of compensation) for this position ranges from $167,251 to $250,876 USD. Our positions offer eligibility for various incentives—an opportunity to receive short‑term incentive bonuses, equity‑based awards for salaried roles and commissions for sales roles. Benefits offered include qualified retirement programs, paid time off (i.e., vacation, holiday, and leaves), as well as health, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms of the applicable plans.
