Services Overview
The Project Oversight Lead provides direct oversight, support, and coordination for assigned programs and projects within the department to ensure all assigned activities and tasks are executed and/or escalated in accordance with established procedures and expectations.
This role proactively communicates the status of activities for assigned programs and projects to ensure services within scope are delivered according to stakeholder expectations. The individual partners with internal stakeholders to provide input on project and program assignments, supporting portfolio priorities and special initiatives. The Project Oversight Lead leads cross-functional projects in a matrixed environment to ensure deliverables, timelines, and escalation pathways are effectively managed.
This role serves as a subject matter expert for assigned programs and projects.
Responsibilities include providing program management and cross-functional operational leadership as a core member of the departmental team to support successful service delivery.
Additionally, the Project Oversight Lead ensures all projects and programs are delivered in compliance with applicable clinical trial protocols, company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), International Council for Harmonisation Good Clinical Practice (ICH-GCP) guidelines, Quality Oversight Plans (QOPs), regulatory requirements, and other department-specific requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure services are delivered in compliance with applicable SOPs, work instructions, policies, local regulatory requirements, and ICH-GCP guidelines.
- Provide regular updates to departmental leadership and stakeholders regarding project and initiative status, identifying operational or technical challenges and recommending mitigation strategies.
- Coordinate with cross-functional team members to ensure successful completion of activities and deliverables within scope, including milestones, timelines, and issue resolution.
- Lead matrixed, cross-functional teams by tracking project and program deliverables, managing timelines, and facilitating escalations when needed.
- Proactively identify risks and ensure appropriate mitigation and contingency plans are developed and executed.
- Serve as a subject matter expert and escalation point for assigned programs and projects.
- Participate in and lead initiatives that support department goals, process improvements, and strategic objectives.
- Collaborate with functional leaders and stakeholders to support portfolio planning, resource forecasting, and capacity management.
- Ensure meeting documentation, key decisions, action items, risks, and project communications are maintained and appropriately tracked.
Required
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of operational experience supporting clinical trials within a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, clinical research, or CRO environment.
- Prior experience contributing as an influential member of a cross-functional team.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Experience mentoring, coaching, or training colleagues.
- Demonstrated knowledge of clinical development processes, global clinical operations, safety reporting, and/or strategic planning, depending on business function.
- Demonstrated ability to identify, elevate, and resolve operational issues through effective risk mitigation planning.
Preferred
- Experience leading or coordinating teams within R&D, Clinical Development, Clinical Operations, or related functions.
- Experience working in a matrixed global environment.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities across a complex stakeholder landscape scape.
