Experienced TIG & MIG Pipe Welders; Stainless Steel & Carbon-Fab Shop

Job Description

Craftsmen Contractors is seeking highly skilled Pipe Welders to work at a fab shop in the Durham, North Carolina area. This is for a 3 to 6 months project. The work schedule is Monday through Sunday - 84 hours per week.

Pay is $40/hour.

No per diem is offered.

Weekly pay by direct deposit.

You will be welding MIG short-circuit carbon pipe and TIG stainless steel pipe.

You will have to pass 1 of 2 weld tests:

Carbon steel MIG: 2 inch Schedule 80 carbon pipe, 6G position, bend test

Stainless steel TIG: 2 inch Schedule 40 stainless steel pipe, 6G position, bend test

Responsibilities

• Execute MIG and TIG welding operations on short-circuit carbon pipe and stainless steel pipe, ensuring compliance with American Welding Society (AWS) standards and project specifications.
• Read and interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and fabrication shop drawings accurately.
• Use measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and measuring tapes to verify dimensions and tolerances.
• Operate power tools, hand tools, plasma cutters, and machining equipment safely and effectively for fabrication tasks.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment while adhering to safety protocols at all times.
• Collaborate with team members to meet project deadlines while ensuring high-quality workmanship.
• Support the interpretation of mechanical blueprints and technical drawings for complex fabrication projects.
• Utilize shop math skills for measurements, calculations, and material estimations during fabrication processes.

Skills

• Proven experience in construction site environments or manufacturing facilities with a focus on metal fabrication.
• Will need to have MIG & TIG welding experience. You will be tested on Carbon steel MIG: 2 inch Schedule 80 carbon pipe, 6G position, bend test and Stainless steel TIG: 2 inch Schedule 40 stainless steel pipe, 6G position, bend test
• Strong knowledge of blueprint reading, mechanical blueprint interpretation, and technical drawing analysis.
• Familiarity with construction equipment such as cranes and the use of hand tools and power tools.
• Ability to operate measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, and other precision tools accurately.
• Mechanical knowledge related to sheet metal work, ductwork fabrication, machining, plasma cutting, and assembly processes.
• Experience working with various metal materials such as pipe, steel, aluminum, or other alloys used in fabrication projects.
• Understanding of safety protocols relevant to welding environments and construction sites.
• Basic math skills including shop math necessary for measurements and calculations.
• Knowledge of manufacturing standards set by the American Welding Society (AWS) or equivalent organizations.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings related to mechanical fabrication projects.
• Strong mechanical knowledge combined with hands-on experience in fabricating complex assemblies using hand tools and power tools.
