- Independently plan and provide professional nursing policies and procedures.
- Provide nursing services to patients and families in accordance with the scope of the RN and physician orders.
- Document professional nursing care utilizing the nursing process, infection control procedures and safety precautions.
- Administer routine and special treatments, and complete JCAHO and other regulatory requirements.
- Use computer systems to document assessments and plan of care.
- Assist other nursing personnel in delivering care.
- Delegate tasks, supervise activities of other licensed workers, act as preceptor, support development of nursing care, and lead as charge nurse when assigned.
- Monitor and initiate corrective action, participate in performance improvement activities, and communicate with patients, families, and health care teams.
- Maintain professional development and establish effective working relationships.
- Perform physical tasks: stand, walk, and maintain focus in a clinical setting.

- Education:
Graduation from an accredited BSN program. Registered nurses hired between July 1 2014 and April 11 2021 without a BSN are encouraged to enroll within two years of start date but must complete the program within seven years. Nurses hired before July 1 2014 are not required to enroll in a BSN to remain in this classification. - Experience:
Twelve months of appropriate clinical experience. - Licensure:
Current or compact RN licensure in North Carolina; BLS required. - Physical job functions:
Standing, walking, prolonged standing, and maintaining focus in a clinical environment.
