Job Summary

The primary objective of this position is to assure the delivery of comprehensive, safe, effective, cost‑effective and appropriate nursing care for patients across the age continuum (4 weeks to geriatric) in accordance with established hospital policy and nursing practice standards. This role operates under minimum supervision, directs and/or provides professional nursing care for an assigned group of patients and may be authorized, in the absence of the manager, to make decisions affecting the PACU.

Job Duties
  • Utilize the nursing process to provide quality patient care according to established standards, including planning, implementing, evaluating, and adjusting the plan of care; report significant changes in patient condition to appropriate personnel.
  • Collaborate and coordinate patient discharge planning needs and readiness with other care team members.
  • Apply age‑specific standards, policies, and procedures in caring for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, including medication administration, sedation, and routine treatment and procedures.
  • Incorporate cultural and developmental needs into the plan of care collaboratively with patients and families.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking, delegate tasks appropriately, and provide staff guidance based on patient assessment and staff competency.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in the patient record per nursing care standards.
  • Participate in performance improvement activities, analyze data, and help develop patient care delivery systems, standards, policy or procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Experience, Training & Education
  • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing;
    Associate’s degree required; BSN preferred.
  • Current licensure in the State of North Carolina or a compact multi‑state RN license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required upon hire.
  • ACLS and PALS certifications preferred on hire and must be obtained within 6 months of employment.
  • Minimum of 1 year of perioperative nursing experience in a hospital setting preferred.
  • One year of critical care nursing experience required.
