Southpoint Surgery Center (SPSC), an affiliate of North Carolina Specialty Hospital, is a new Ambulatory Surgery Center located between Raleigh and Durham in the Durham‑Southpoint area. SPSC offers a differentiated outpatient delivery model focused on high‑quality, cost‑effective solutions for surgical and related ancillary care for patients. SPSC is a multi‑specialty 22,298 sq. ft. facility accommodating Orthopedics, Spine, Ophthalmology, ENT, GYN, General, Urology, Plastics, Podiatry, Vascular, and Pain.

- Provide individualized nursing care to the surgical patient, demonstrating an extensive knowledge base to support a variety of single and multi‑system illnesses and injuries.
- Demonstrate appropriate application of age‑specific standards, policies, and procedures for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
- Incorporate cultural and developmental needs into plan of care in collaboration with patient/family.
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills, highly organized with excellent organizational and decision‑making skills.
- Concentrate on many detailed requests despite numerous interruptions and prioritize tasks to maintain patient safety.
- Document patient care in the patient record according to established standards of nursing care.
- Participate and promote Universal Protocol and time‑out procedure in every procedure.
- Work with multidisciplinary team to plan for patient care and provide optimal outcomes.
- Participate in performance improvement activities including collecting and analyzing data to identify quantifiable measures to maintain quality and promote desired outcomes.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing;
Associate's degree required; BSN preferred. - Current licensure as a Registered Nurse from the North Carolina State Board of Nursing or compact multi‑state license.
- BLS from American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) required upon hire.
- ACLS & PALS from AHA or ARC preferred; must obtain both certifications within 6 months of hire if not active.
- CNOR Certification strongly preferred.
- Familiar with instruments and equipment related to Perioperative Nursing.
- Ability to demonstrate manual dexterity in handling instruments.
